I have learned to let go
Tanja is a resolute woman with a steady eye, a firm handshake and a friendly, reassuring presence. She is head of a team of people at NNIT’s Customer Services department, where it is essential to be able to balance a personal touch with a target-oriented attitude.
Tanja originally worked for Ericsson and encountered NNIT for the first time at an Ericsson vs. NNIT volleyball game. She fell into conversation with a couple of NNIT employees, sent an unsolicited application and ´switched teams´ when she was offered a position as delivery manager.
This position involved.her negotiating contracts for network agreements with Novo Nordisk - contracts centred on the monitoring and maintenance of networks.
Shortly afterwards, she was offered a job as project manager for WebTalk, a project focused on mediating web conferences. She developed the concept and presented it to potential customers herself.
This led to her appearing before the senior management of Novo Nordisk. And she sold the product. “It was only afterwards that I realised that I could have used NNIT’s sales staff, who are used to appearing on the senior management floors. But it was really exciting– and a personal success,” she says.
In 2005, Tanja was headhunted by Customer Services. This happened after she had worked as project manager on the 24/7 Service Desk, a project that stemmed from Customer Services and involved providing ’help with everything’ around the clock at the NNIT Service Desk.
Today, her project management duties have been replaced by more general management. Tanja employs, develops and challenges her people. She holds employee assessments, pinpoints the strengths and development options for her staff and keeps track from both a professional and a personal perspective. “I suppose I’m a bit of a control freak. But becoming a manager has taught me to let go – to give more of myself,” she says.
In order to become an even better manager, Tanja
will be taking an actual coaching training course. In the long term, she plans to make the most of the opportunities available at NNIT for a more
general business development.
At the moment, her professiona focus is primarily directed towards Customer Services. It quickly becomes apparent that Tanja likes to move fast, so it is no surprise to learn that she has just received her motorcycle licence. “I have to keep moving!”
