Your cover letter: Describe yourself as a person
You will take a big step towards getting an interview if you have some interesting ideas about what the job involves and what it could mean for you. If you need information about the job, you are always welcome to call the contact person specified in the job ad.
We are looking for a detailed description of your professional and your personal qualifications for the job. Explain why you want this particular job – and why you think you are the one we should hire.
Your CV: All the relevant facts
Your CV should only contain facts about you, your skills and your previous experience. We would like to see a brief description of the most important results you have achieved for each of your previous jobs.
Your CV should provide us with your contact details, your age, educational background, previous work experience, training courses/certifications, language skills and other activities you have been involved with (such as board work and publications). You should also list your hobbies and give us an impression of what you are like as a person. Finally, we would like to know how available you are for business travel and remote assignments.
If you are applying for a job that is different from previous positions youhave held, your CV needs to help explain the change. For example, if you have previously worked as a manager but are now applying for a specialist role, your CV needs to do more than just discuss your management experience. Devote some space to describing experience and skills that make you qualified for the job you are applying for.
Write in an organised and easy-to-read manner
Lay out your CV and application in an organised manner, and use an ordinary font that is large enough to be easily read.
Unless you are applying for a creative position, avoid using drawings and illustrations. It is the content of your application that will land you an interview – not how it looks.
