John is a specialist to his fingertips. He is employed in PharmaIT, where he works with process optimisation and business development within the clinical area for NNIT’s pharmaceutical customers.
A large part of John’s work is about advising customers on how to optimise their business. And here IT only plays a part of the package solution:
“The best result happens in interaction between work processes, organization and IT. The whole organisation has to be geared for optimising the business. And IT is just a “tool” to get it all in place,” John says.
An American past
Before John started at NNIT he was first employed in an American pharmaceutical company with its base in Washington and later as CEO in a larger IT company. This combination has given him the perfect approach to his job at NNIT:
“My experience from the pharmaceutical industry gives me a thorough knowledge about the customer and I understand their challenges. At the same time my roots within IT management means that I am also familiar with the solutions and that I can explain strategic advantages to the customers”, John says.
John was employed in 2003 as a project manager. In the later years he acted as “Technical Project Director” in the large eClinical –project in Novo Nordisk with the general responsibility of technical development and architecture.
A talent within sales
At the same time he has taken advantage of his sales talent and has been the man behind numerous new contracts with customers from a majority of the European pharmaceutical industry. At the same time he has developed eClinical projects for customers such as Lundbeck, Novartis and Altana.
To John, project management and knowledge of pharma processes has always been in focus. “I love the contact with customers and participating in their challenges. I am not suited for being a manager and being locked up inside an office”, John explains.
The career path has now taken John to the top step. In October 2006, he was appointed as the first Vice President within the specialist track. It gives him possibilities to make his mark on developments – not only within the pharmaceutical area, but also across NNIT in general.
