MainpageJobs at NNIT:Education and DevelopmentLene - HR Manager

Lene was never in doubt. Leadership has always been the driving force in her career which has brought her all the way to the top in NNIT and to a position as HR-manager.

Within this area she has the responsibility for employee development, job rotations and recruitment. In other words to ensure that NNIT not only functions as a delivery tool, but a lively work place with harmony between culture, processes and the employees perception of the workplace.

Even though Lene sees her present position as a dream job, her career has not been a goal-oriented hunt to reach the top. After studying at Copenhagen Business School, she continued as a management assistant at what was then known as Novo Industries.
The goal was to continue in the personnel department, but it took quite a few years before that wish was to become a reality.

The year was 1989 and Lene’s workplace merged with the competitor and became Novo Nordisk.
This meant a surplus of employees in the new personnel department so for Lene this was a time to move on.

Out and in of the Novo familiy

First, she continued her career at a consultancy bureau and later at a mortgage credit institute. These two jobs gave her the perfect combination of IT, project management and responsibility of employees. In 2000 she was ready to return to the Novo family and NNIT.

“At the time, NNIT had a need for business oriented types of people, who were not necessarily technically inclined.
And that fitted my description. Apparently, I had a good ability to talk to customers, relate to new things and be in control of large IT projects.” Lene says. A detour full of experience.

Lene was employed as a project manager in the department which today is called PharmaIT. Her abilities as a leader were quickly noticed by the organisation and she was therefore appointed manager of approximately 20 employees.
As time went by her area of responsibility grew and after just 1 ½ years the number of employees grew to over 50 within her area.

In September 2006, the offer came which she could not turn down. The position as personnel manager had become available and Lene seized the opportunity. She sees the long detour as a strength:

”My experience from the delivery department makes me feel better equipped as a personnel manager. I have knowledge of the organisation, which I wouldn’t have had if I had landed directly in a personnel department after finishing my studies”.

Do the things you are good at
The role as a manager has always been in Lene’s nature. The desire to lead, seeking a direction, the gathering of the right people and the motivation of them has always been a driving force for Lene who gives the following advice:

”I have always focused on the things that I do best and followed the things that I find inspiring. It is all about being open to new opportunities and to try your strengths against other job areas. This has given me a new view the organisation and especially my own work life”.
