MainpageAbout us:Working MethodsSoftware development

A well-known doctrine in all software development says that the earlier mistakes and misunderstandings are discovered, the easier and cheaper they are to fix. That’s why NNIT constantly sets out and tests the customer’s requirements – right from the outset. In this way, we ensure that IT solutions are continually matched to their surroundings before being put to work.

The main principle of NNIT’s software development is to divide development into easily handled steps called ‘iterations’. Each of these iterations are analysed, coded and tested. A beta version of the system itself is then given to the customer for working trials.

Staged deliveries give the customer a much better feel for the project, and a better chance to make any changes to the system in good time. That’s why we involve our customers heavily in the development of the system itself.

Methods

Software development demands structure to achieve the optimal output. That is why the work processes in NNIT’s software development is based on the CMMI (Capability Maturity Model® Integration) and RUP (Rational Unified Process®) models.

The CMMI model consists of a line of tools which can improve work processes on all levels in software development. Every step has been carefully investigated and measured increasing stability and ensuring that we carry out processes as planned.

The RUP model provides methods and techniques for managing the software development. The model identifies and adjusts possible risks in the process at the earliest possible point. Thus, we are able to avoid unpleasant surprises later in the process.

Together, the two models ensure that we deliver the expected quality on time and within budget.
