New version of sundhed.dk for the New Year
From the New Year, users will notice that the National Danish e-health portal, sundhed.dk, is faster and optimised to keep pace with future developments. This is thanks to a new contract with NNIT.
Sundhed.dk was launched in December 2003, and preparations for the new version have been going strong since the autumn of 2007 – drawing on user feedback and the goals of the owners. NNIT has secured the first phase of the project.
“After carefully screening several interested enquiries, we have found an extremely reliable supplier. NNIT has the right experience in working with similar multidisciplinary portals. And, as we are employed by the health sector, we are clearly focusing on shorter response times and greater operating stability,” says Morten Elbæk Petersen, Managing Director of the National Danish e-health portal, sundhed.dk.
The agreement with NNIT covers re-establishment, and will ensure changes to external applications are kept to an absolute minimum.
“We’re really looking forward to this project, because we can combine the knowledge we have consistently built up within public-sector portals together with developing and running business-critical systems in the private sector – and the regulated pharma industry. Winning this contract also confirms that we’ve achieved our goal of being recognised as a public-sector IT supplier,” says Lars Andersen, Sales Manager for the public sector at NNIT.
After NNIT’s contract has finished, a tender for the portal’s maintenance and further development will follow in 2009.

Sundhed.dk, the single entry point to e-health services in Denmark, is backed by the public-sector parties within the health system. The portal has been supplying citizens and health professionals with useful information on illnesses and diseases since 2003. With a digital signature, users can also access information on medicines, e-journals and laboratory results. Digital signatures provide a customised 'My page', featuring relevant contact information for their own doctor, and giving clear access to notes in the ‘My medicine profile’ and other self-service options. Sundhed.dk was the brainchild of Danish Regions, the Ministry of Interior and Health, Copenhagen City, the City of Frederiksberg and others. In spring 2003, The Association of Danish Pharmacies also joined the team. The portal is run by a cross-political board and a project steering committee consisting of directors from the organisations behind sundhed.dk.
