Innovation under the financial crisis was the theme of an all day arrangement hosted by NNIT Business Consulting in the middle of January 2010.
Key learning points
Optimisation of innovation processes is of great relevance in a financial crisis.
Most innovation departments in Danish companies and in the innovation area in general are struggling to justify their existence every day. It is important to be able to show results.
Decision-makers concentrate on bottom line and profits more than on investments in new innovations. Therefore innovators need to be more focussed and LEAN, when working with business development and great ideas. That means that they need to focus their efforts and get better at quantifying what they do – it is important to show results or innovate in cooperation with your clients.
The event in brief
Key note speaker NNIT’s CTO Karsten Fogh Ho-Lanng initiated the event by giving his view on business development in NNIT including cloud computing, which is currently on top of his mind.
Business Consultants Morten Thomsen and Jan Weber, NNIT, shared their experiences with developing new services and methods in close cooperation with clients.
They presented two customer cases:
- Use Case Requirement Specification – a Best Practice URS
- Organisational Change Management – visualisation as a technique
In the afternoon Michael Thomsen from Workz presented the result of a symposium about front-end innovation and strategic innovation in the largest Danish companies. A remarkable finding is that innovation departments typically exist for 10-20 months before they are either closed down or reorganised.
